Architect Caroline Duncan's compact apartment is bright, flexible and full of custom DIY solutions and smart storage. Thoughtful, inventive details include a customised Muji bench that provides both window seating and hidden storage, a modular felt sofa that easily converts into a bed, and a cat-friendly laundry nook that discreetly houses a litter box. The kitchen is a seamless blend of high and low, combining IKEA carcasses with bespoke birch plywood fronts and porcelain handles inherited from family. A full-height storage wall cleverly unifies the kitchen and wardrobe space while concealing a mirrored door to the bedroom. Subtle multifunctionality is scattered through-out the home: a recessed headboard niche doubles as a projector shelf, and a wall-mounted desk preserves the openness of the living space.
