Why waiting can make your HDB upgrade harder

The Right Move 235 1 26 Sep 2026

Video description from @therightmovesg

Waiting six months may feel like the careful choice.

But the market does not remain still while you decide.

In this example, an owner could initially sell at $700K and upgrade at $1.3M. Later, the existing home falls to $690K while the target private property becomes more expensive.

The issue is no longer either price by itself.

It is the widening amount that the household must fund between them.

That is what I call reverse FOMO: the pressure that appears when delaying a move begins to reduce your available options.

This is not a reason to rush into buying. It is a reason to measure the upgrade gap, agree on the conditions that would make the move sensible and decide with a clear timeline.
