In a former artist’s atelier in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, interior architects Sophie Berck and Pauline Girardot of Petit Jour transformed a bare, unfinished loft into a warm, multifunctional home defined by industrial materials, bold colour, and flexible zoning. Working with an open, double-height footprint, they placed the kitchen, full-height storage, and bathroom along the darkest wall, freeing the sunlit side to become the home’s main living zone. A slim stainless-steel kitchen and red tiled breakfast bar shape the entrance, opening into a bright living area connected to the terrace. A pine mezzanine forms a dedicated office, with a sliding double bed on rollers tucked beneath, allowing the space to shift easily between lounging, working, and sleeping. A mirrored floor-to-ceiling closet reflects light from the terrace, keeping the compact layout bright, flexible, and uncluttered, while lava stone, brushed steel, salvaged oak, pine, and bold red accents echo the spirit of the old atelier.
