Architects Noelia de la Red of Santa Arquitectura and Jordi Ribas of LABLANCA (previously Allaround lab) opened up the ground floor, introducing a long, slim oak kitchen that reads as a continuous wall of storage, ending in a double work from home desk for the parents. A curved sculptural staircase connects the two floors with a lower step that extends into a built-in TV console with hidden storage beneath. Upstairs, relocating the shared bathroom downstairs freed up space for three bedrooms. Removing the dropped ceilings revealed extra height for built-in loft beds, while a clever indoor gallery allows the two children’s rooms to share a single window. Light-toned microcement floors help bounce daylight through the space, while restored wooden doors and shutters retain a sense of history.
