Massive transformation of a Stangee Place walk-up apartment

Tarun and Loon were looking for a walk-up apartment and were quickly drawn to this unit they found at Stangee Place. They loved the high ceilings, and the fact that the property was situated at a cul-de-sac. Being conveniently located a street away from the main hustle and bustle East Coast Road with all its bars and restaurants was also a plus.

The owners engaged their ID, Poets Interior, to give their Stangee Place apartment a complete overhaul. All the non-structural walls in the old walk-up were demolished and the entire space rearranged.

The master bedroom is now the kitchen and dining space, the second bedroom is now the living area, the kitchen is now the master suite, and the balcony has been converted into a study/guest room. A newly installed planter box outside the balcony window also allows the owners to enjoy their gardening hobby. The entire unit has been transformed into an open space and is filled with light.

Custom features include a huge concrete kitchen island and dining table, and an artificial skylight in the master bathroom with LED light-changing effects. There’s also a tall custom cat tree for the owners’ felines.

The design celebrates the character and history of the old walk-up with the existing red brick walls now exposed. The retro glass wall in the balcony has also been kept. The home exudes warm industrial vibes, which is exactly what the owners wanted.

To maintain the home’s spacious feel, seamless full-height storage has been worked into the living space to store clutter. The master bedroom also features a Murphy bed. When there are guests, it can be concealed and the bedroom bi-fold doors pushed back so the unit becomes party ready.
